You joined over 650 plungers across Alberta to make a big splash for Special Olympics Alberta and you raised over $167,000.

“Thank you to all our plungers,” said Johnny Byrne, president and CEO of Special Olympics Alberta.

“We raised all-time highs of over $167,000. We are super pumped that we were joined by members of the Calgary Stampeders, Olympic gold medalist, elected officials and we even had Rick Mercer make a surprise appearance. What an event!”

Polar Plunge events were held in Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge and Medicine Hat and each city showed their own personal plunge flair. The funds raised from this brrrilliant event will support over 3,000 Special Olympics athletes throughout Alberta and the 2017 Special Olympics Alberta Summer Games this summer.

Special Olympics Alberta is incredibly thankful for all the brave plungers who took on freezing temperatures and fund raised like superstars. We had some pretty pawesome partners who made sure that we had this successful year like our provincial partner William Huff Advertising, local partners: Edmonton Bavaria BMW, Summerside Lake, Arbour Lake, City of Lethbridge and City of Medicine Hat. Check out each event to see our full list of amazing partners who made this year a huge success.

Special thanks to our presenting partner the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Alberta! Law enforcement members from across Alberta came together to organize, volunteer and plunge to make sure that his was a spashtastic success!

A Plunger

Do you have friends daring enough to freeze ’em for a reason? Support their efforts and help them reach their fundraising goal.

Goal: $250,000 Raised: $167,013

How It Works

Each plunger is required to fundraise $75 to jump to frozen glory. Plungers can raise additional funds, earning them extra incentives along the way. Each plunge is a different party you can be part of! You can raise funds in person, online, or a combination of both.

A charitable donation receipt will be issued by Special Olympics Alberta for donations over $25 or more. Please ensure donors complete their contact info or pledge form for a receipt to be issued.

Your pledge money and forms can be submitted on the day of the plunge during registration. Details about submission and registration will be posted on your event page.
